Vancouver Dyke March — August 1, 2020!
Hello, diverse dykes, trans and nonbinary folks, and all the lovely queers who call these unceded Coast Salish territories home!
The announcement made by the BC Government on May 6th has given us a better idea of what to expect in the coming months. It’s great news that we have a plan for reconnecting with our friends, family, and our local businesses as the summer progresses. Unfortunately, this plan does not include large gatherings, so we will not be hosting the Vancouver Dyke March and Festival in person this year.
That said, we are pleased to announce one of our plans for 2020!
We are selling two bundle options of curated VDM merch. Net proceeds will be donated to the Coalition Against Trans Antagonism (CATA) for their Trans Resiliency Fund that focuses on Trans BIPOC individuals. (https://noterfsnoswerfs.com/trf/)
It is important, and always has been, for LGBTQ+ communities to acknowledge and support those who are most marginalized. The current world situation has only worsened the pile of intersecting pressures and abuses faced by BIPOC folks who do not conform to colonial gender identities. By purchasing a care package, you’re getting more than sweet dyke swag. You are giving directly to BIPOC trans and non-binary humans in BC. It is more essential than ever to reach out and to offer assistance.

As an organization built around a physical event, 2020 has been a unique experience for us. Thank you all for your support, love, and patience- our number one motivation has been to preserve queer space and unite our community!
We would like to acknowledge that this event is held on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
