Vancouver Dyke March — August 1, 2020!

Hello, diverse dykes, trans and nonbinary folks, and all the lovely queers who call these unceeded Coast Salish territories home!

The announcement made by the BC Government on May 6th has given us a better idea of what to expect in the coming months. It’s great news that we have a plan for reconnecting with our friends, family, and our local businesses as the summer progresses. Unfortunately, this plan does not include large gatherings so we will not be hosting the Vancouver Dyke March and Festival in person this year. We believe it is important that everyone continue to follow the advice of medical experts on this issue.

That said, we also understand the value of creating and preserving queer spaces of all kinds, especially physical spaces. It’s important for queer folks to take up space and find ways to thrive & play. So, we are working to bring some of our classic VDM magic to you this summer.

We want to make something meaningful for our community, and want to hear from you!! What would fill you with pride this summer? Do you want to see more social media engagement and online events, or are you suffering from video-call fatigue? Would encountering queer public art installations throughout the city spark some joy? We welcome any other ideas, too.

You can share your ideas with us by sending us an email at or submit your idea to our google form here:

We hope you are healthy and taking care of yourselves during this uncertain time. It has been inspiring to see our queer communities come together to support each other and we applaud all of the extra activism happening in the face of COVID-19.

We would like to acknowledge that this event is held on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
